STUDENT INFORMATION
Getting a substitute
- Remember that our substitutes are on the list for a variety of reasons. When you call for a sub, please understand if a sub is not available. This system is not foolproof; but when it works, it saves you money and allows someone who would like to attend class to do so. You need to ask subs to please respond either way - yes or unavailable - ASAP.
- If you ask someone who is not on the list to sub for you; please let me know. Please give them the student website address / have them call me so I can answer any questions that they might have about class.
The following suggestions are to acquaint you with working procedures for the class:
- Please close the front door "securely" when you come in or go out.
- The room has been carefully arranged to meet your needs and to give each student a good view of the model stand. When you arrive, walk through the room to find a set up that suits your needs.
- Most easels and tables are arranged for right-handed students. However, as there are lefties in most classes, some easels are set up just for them. Select an easel that suits your dominate hand.
- Also, choose an easel with a table that accommodates your materials; some tables are larger than others.
- Of course, you draw best if you stand at the easel, but if you would like to sit, find a set up that already has a chair. If you need a particular type of chair, I will get it for you.
- Small (24” x 24”) & big boards (36” x 24”) are to the left of the door as you come into the room. Please put your boards back after class.
- When we are working from the model, you can move to find a view that you want; just consider others who are working and do not inconvenience them. You may have to sit on a low stool; but let me know where you want to move, and I will help you set up.
- If you drop art materials on the studio floor, please pick them up. Cinnamon (our dog) is an eating machine and doesn't realize how sick she’ll get if she eats a piece or two of pastel. From experience, she can get very sick!!
- In the sink area, there are 2 trash bins. One is for paper, etc. and the other, for recycling plastic and cans. Food items and non-recyclable plastics go in the kitchen trash.
- Soap, a nailbrush, paper towels and the hand lotion are for your use.
- Sponges and tubs for water are under the sink.
- The bathroom is on your right just before you enter the classroom. The light switch is on the wall opposite the door near the toilet on the far side of the room.
- There is a trash can with a lid for disposables is on the right side of the toilet.
- Lighting the candle will refresh the room, if needed.
